~ ~ ~

This giveaway is for any father who has suffered the death of his child, or the father of a baby who is currently being carried despite a fatal diagnosis.

Let's show these very special dads how much we love and appreciate them this Father's Day.

Because they are still fathers...
Because they grieve...
Because they are loving and missing their babies...
Because we want to recognize all they do...

We honor them.

Enter to win a FREE copy of the book, Grieving Dads: To the Brink and Back.

Grieving Dads: To the Brink and Back is a collection of candid stories from grieving dads that were interviewed over a two year period. The book offers insight from fellow members of, in the haunting words of one dad, “this terrible, terrible club,” which consists of men who have experienced the death of a child. This book is a collection of survival stories by men who have survived the worst possible loss and lived to tell the tale. They are real stories that pull no punches and are told with brutal honesty. Men that have shared their deepest and darkest moments. Moments that included thoughts of suicide, self-medication and homelessness. Some of these men have found their way back from the brink while others are still standing there, stuck in their pain. The core message of Grieving Dads is “you’re not alone.” It is a message that desperately needs to be delivered to grieving dads who often grieve in silence due to society’s expectations.

I am entering for my husband, Darrin. He has been a wonderful companion on this grief journey this past year. Our daughter Lydia was still born at full-term due to a chord accident in Sept and then we had a miscarriage, little Luca in March. He has been wonderfully supportive of me but also willing to own his grief and to honor our children, particulalry working hard to make a special memory garden. He is a fabulous part-time stay at home Dad to our four year old son, Liam. I could not do my work at as pastor without his support, love and energy he puts into holding the home front together. People frequently ask how I am doing--but he is often forgotten. I want to honor him for being such a terrific Dad to all our children.

I am entering for my husband as well. Ryan is my best friend and partner in life. He has been my rock through the stillbirth of our daughter Maggie on 8/9/12 and Violet on 7/17/13. We lost both girls to trisomy 18. We have no other living children and I see his heart break every time he sees a father with their children. Because of my health and because we don't know why trisomy 18 struck us twice, we've decided to not try again. We're currently moving forward with adoption, which is scary and daunting in and of itself. He has been amazing and so loving and positive. He's an amazing father to our angels and not a day goes by that he doesn't mention them, miss them or love them.

I'm entering on behalf of my husband, Gary. He is a grieving empty-armed dad with two angel sons, Acacius, still birth at 20 weeks back in November 23, 2011 and Isaias whom we carried to full term despite his fatal diagnosis back in December 7, 2013. Two different conditions which the medical genetics specialist think we just got unlucky, yet very unfortunately yield the same outcome. He is the most amazing man I've known and he has got such perseverance in the midst of all sufferings. I want to honor Gary, to tell him how loving of a father he is. His sons must be super proud of him! Besides being a grieving dad, he is also a grieving son. His mom passed away from cancer 13 years ago, and his dad committed suicide last year. Yet, he is so strong and keep on going with life, even though it doesn't seem like there is any point of doing so.

I'm entering my husband David. We lost our firstborn, Sammy in 2010, and at that time he was a great support to me. Just a few months ago, we learned that our little girl had TWO fatal diagnoses and would not survive. He was an active partner in all decisions - we decided to carry her as long as we could. Sadly, we lost her at 16.5 weeks. He has been an incredible dad to our 2 year old little girl and has been a huge source of support for me, when we have none from others. He speaks of our children, all of them, often. Words can't express how lucky we are to have him.

I am entering for my husband, Darrell. Our son, Aidan, was born in February with Trisomy-13. He lived for 3 wonderful hours. My husband has been amazing through all of this, but I know it has been hard on him.
